I have tried many software programs. My first impression has mainly been caught with the first image that the program creates. This is such a mistake.
Recently I joined the Yahoo PatternMaker Group. I've used the PatternMaker program for years and didn't try out all of it's features.
Did you know that PatternMaker has an "Include image as an underlay for tracing" function? This feature makes lineart or simple clipart very simple to design.
I learned this on the first visit after joining the group.
I highly recommend joining the forums/groups associated with the program you use.
I'm often asked which is the best software program.
That will depend on what you want your program to do.
Please list the features your program provide that you find useful and to help stitchers decide.

This feature is great. Up until now I have always created the outline with full stitches then created the backstitching on lineart. Tedious to say the least. With the underlay trace function I can begin backstitching placement right away on very simple drawings. It will take practice and experimenting.
Now to learn more about adding text.....

I havent even attempted text yet, but I have some designs I want to do, so I am with you there! I guess no matter how long you have been working with something, you always find something new...lol...
