I have just received my copy of Converting Digital Photos and Clip Art to Needlework Patterns (2005) by Tim Plumlee. Tim is known as Sir Hopsalot and is the developer of the cross stitch software program Pixel Stitch.
I was very impressed how the book can easily be used to understand the basic design process for most cross stitch programs even though it was written to accompany his program Pixel Stitch.
It is written so even the newest computer user or cross stitcher can understand each section and not lost in technical jargon or abbreviations that we stitchers like to use in needlwork forums. It covers challenges that almost all photo to cross stitchers face.
In the Introduction called the Adventure Begins, we are immediately inspired and encouraged not to let anyone tell you computer designing is not an art and skill. That's rare and exciting.
Photo to cross stitch conversion is a skill and the finished product is a beautiful, unique treasure.
I would recommend you add this book to your library, especially if you are a photo to cross stitch converter. This kind of information is hard to find.
