What is your favorite software program?

I like certain features in alot of the programs and wish they could come up with a way to let you mix and match features to create a program as you like it.
for example, Digistitch was the first program I owned and I still like the simplicity of it. Cross Stitch Professional 2003 has the most realistic view of the stitched design.
I use a number of programs.

I have used several and still havent found a favorite...I have used PC Stitch, wasnt happy at all with it, and Patternmaker, which is ok, but I am the same, wish I could merge several programs into 1.

The question I am asked most often is, "What is the best software program for cross-stitch?"
That is an extremely difficult question to answer as every stitcher has different circumstances. Some like simpicity, some like all the bells and whistles, some are reserved due to their budget, and the list can go on and on.
I can tell you that I have tried many but I always return to PatternMaker Pro. It is the one I am most practiced and comfortable with. It may not be the program best suited to everyone though and that is why I created the list for Layden With Stitches

I have searched for as many programs as possible that will serve Windows and different systems such as Macs and Linux and added some alternatives. I hope you'll let us know what program(s) you use and why.
This could serve as a handy reference & review for the many people who ask which program is the best.
